Y’Know Elsie We Should Come Here More Often – Hollingworth Lake
Hollingworth Lake is in Littleborough, a district of Rochdale, it is a reservoir contracted as a water supply for the Rochdale canal. From the 1860 it was developed as a tourist attraction – it is now, with the surrounding area, a country park.
This prize winning painting (Springhead open, joint best in show) is looking across the lake to the opposite bank where a refectory and sea cadets are located.
The lake is a favoured subject for Robert to Paint, He has been going to Hollingworth Lake more or less all his life both as a child and later with his family especially with Jasmine and Annabel his grandchildren.
