The Mountains of Mourne are a granite range in County Down Northern Ireland. The area is of

outstanding nature beauty and has been proposed as Northern Ireland’s first national park.

The highest peak is Slieve Donard at 850m. The name Mourne is derived from a Gaelic Clan –

Mughdhorna. It is now partly own by the National Trust.
