Reason and inspiration for the work;

The River Tame rises close to the Pennine Way near the Saddleworth Village of Denshaw, it flows through the Saddleworth villages of Delph, Dobcross, Uppermill and then on to Mossley, Stalybridge, Ashton-u-Lyne and eventfully into the River Mersey.
This picture, in oil, was painted in 1980 by Robert. The subject is the River Tame in Uppermill just behind the museum/galley in the centre of the village.
