Reason and inspiration for the work;

Dovestones reservoir was built in 1967 to collect water from the surround moorlands, it’s name comes from a collection of stones on the skyline that look like doves. The reservoir is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park off the Holmfirth road above the Saddleworth village of Greenfield.
As can be seen from Robert’s painting that the topology is very striking. In the painting is fellow artist and Robert’s friend Kevin Haynes with his Dog Megan.
