Reason and inspiration for the work;

Hollinworth Lake is in Littlebourgh, a district of Rochdale it is a reservoir contracted as a water supply for the Rochdale canal. From the 1860 it was developed as a tourist attraction – it is now, with the surrounding area, a country park.
The nature reserve over the years has been a great success attracting wild life especially birds, for instance Great Created Grebes and Kingfishers and many rare visitors.
The lake is a favoured subject for Robert to Paint, He has been going to Hollinworth Lake more or less all his life both as a child and later with his family especially with Jasmine and Annabel his grandchildren

Hollinworth Lake with many happy memories for Robert.
